Welcome to the Embedded Systems Research Group

Embedded Systems Research Group is a part of the Department of Electronics at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Nis ( Serbia and Montenegro ). Our power point presentation can be taken from >>.

Research Activities

Our research focus is on distributed, fault-tolerant, real-time embedded systems. Embedded systems are having a profound impact on society as it transitions into the information era. More than 90 percent of existing computer systems are embedded systems consisting of both hardware and software components. Advances in process technology and ever increasing demand of smarter, cheaper, and power-aware embedded systems have motivated the needs for better methodologies and tools to design, analyze, implement and deploy such systems. Concerning the embedded system research, we are particularly interested in the development of methods and tools for:

  • system specification and modeling
  • hardware/software co-design
  • SoC architecture design
  • Configurable and extensible processor design
  • Distributed sensor networks
  • Special topics in energy aware design, low-power design, fault-tolerance

Collaboration

We are interested to conduct our research in close cooperation with internationally recognized research groups from European Union and industrial partners. Particular areas in which the Embedded Systems Group plans research collaborations include:

  • Wireless Networking for Embedded Devices
  • Sensor Networks
  • Networked Appliances
  • Embedded Operating Systems
  • SoC Design

On-going research projects

  • Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) . The main goal of the project is to develop laboratory platform and test-bed for research and experimentation in wirelles sensor networks.
  • Self-checking circuit design. The main goal of the project is to develop efficient self-checking methodologies and tools to act as an enabling technology for the design of fault-tolerant embedded systems.

Our research page lists the research projects that we are currently involved in. Our publication page lists all our publications.

Teaching Activities

The ESR group has the responsibility for a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses which contain components of electronics, computer and embedded systems engineering. Our education page lists the courses that we currently teach.

Research and Teaching Staff

Currently ESR group has three full professors, one associate professor, three teaching and one research assistants. The research staff and students of the group have a science or engineering background in electrical engineering, telecomunications or computer science.
